Oh, hi.

My name is Tom Monaghan and I hate cancer.

I definitely don't use the word "hate" lightly, but wow, I hate cancer.  In 1992 I volunteered for the PMC.  Then I did it again and again and again.  Then I thought "riding might be easier, so I rode.  It was fun, and a bit easier then the grueling work volunteering in Bourne, MA (the mid point).  Riding 192 miles is not easy, as least for this fat guy, but it is far, far easier than cancer and it's the one thing I can do to help make that thing I hate a memory.

The forecast: warm & wet

How warm?  Like 87º warm with t-storms.

Why I ride

The Pan-Mass Challenge is somehow the best and worst weekend of pretty much every year.  But I keep coming back.  I first volunteered when I was 16 years old.  Now I'm 44 and I've missed just a few years since then.  There's not much I can do to help cure cancer, except I can do this.  I can raise awareness, I can raise funds, I can ride 192 miles every August.

Still here?  Please donate to my PMC

So my least favorite part of the PMC is asking friends and family for money.

But the research can't get done, and the victims can't be helped without money.  So here goes.
